Jesus

My Inspiration

I’m inspired to write this about Jesus because I’m realizing the gravity of his sacrifice. Jesus became a servant, a slave, and a ransom for our salvation ( Matthew 20:28). In Isaiah he is referred to as the “suffering servant” (Isaiah 53). What kind of person willingy dies or something they didn’t do? Only love, only God.

As much as some would like to deny it… creation declares its Creator. We saw this on the Become Trip traveling to national parks, and seeing the beauty in nature. And as much as our prideful society would hate to admit…we did not create ourselves!

So when they say… “ You’re good-looking ” you should reply “ Praise God , I was His idea”.  Or if they say ” You’re ugly” reply ” Praise God, I was His idea!” haha. Just like you didn’t orchestrate your parents getting together and having you… so this earth didn’t come together with no intention or intelligence. There was a desire in the heart of God to express His love through creating us.

Yet because of our selfish ambition and wanting to be God, just like a little bratty kid wants to be grown before his time…we got beside ourselves. We tried to kick God out the picture, and humanity got kicked out of the garden (Gen 3:23).

I Was Self-Righteous…

I was as a self-righteous, coveting, fornicating-liar at heart. I realized my own moral failing in the mirror of the Ten Commandments, and understood that compared to God… my righteousness is worthless.  I always compare salvation by works like trying to get to the moon in my own rocket ship ( or my own power), it’s just not gonna fly… but it’s only through God’s vehicle (Jesus Christ) that I’m able to make it to heaven  (John 14:6)

When we try to play God instead of obey God , it’s like a child trying to tell the parent what to do… so disrespectful and out of place – our rebellion is apparent in how we treat each other. God tells us to love another ( Mark 12:30-31), but our rebellious heart tells us to hate others. When we  mistreat our brothers and sisters it displeases God . When we think evil, commit violence, and treat people like objects rather than the divine being he created us to be… it grieves his heart ( Genesis 6:5), that is why he wiped the earth clean with a flood  in Noah’s day . When we try to play God we also treat God like nothing…which hurts his heart.

Have you ever been in a relationship where another person just doesn’t care about your feelings? You can pour out your heart, But they only care about themselves? That’s how we act (in our fallen nature) towards God.

Who is Jesus to me ?

Some call him Yeshua Hamashiach , but in english speaking countries we call him Jesus Christ, but the root meaning is deliverer . I start my whole idea with this thought because without this deliverance I would be separate from God, not knowing God’s heart, in great agony, addiction, slavery, and pain from my selfish-ambition, and offenses. But God sent Jesus to show me a new way, and pay for my offenses against heaven. Jesus is the reason I will forgive, the reason I will love, and the reason I can have a fresh start. Jesus resurrected people from the dead (John 11, Luke 8:52–56,Matthew 27:50–53), healed the sick ( Matthew 8), taught compassion, and forgiveness ( John 13:34-35, Matthew 6:14). He was falsely accused by the religious leaders of his day, then murdered by the ruling government. Yet..even through a corrupt religion and government God raised him from the dead as a sign for those who believe as payment for our offenses! Because of him will not suffer the ultimate wrath of God. It’s like going to court and not being able to pay for your offenses against the state but someone steps in and says I will pay for that… that’s what Jesus did for you.

This is how much God loved the world; He gave his Son so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. – John 3:16(MSG)

Love not Fear

God gave us his heart ( Jesus Christ, the Ten commandments, the Prophets ) , and we trampled it. You might ask yourself why would God give us his heart  if he knew we we’re going to trample it? Well , If love is forced then it’s not love, it’s fear…God doesn’t want us to serve him out of fear, but from love. That’s why I have to tell you about Jesus, he is the heart of God. He changes this whole perspective of “master ” God, to “husband” God ( Hosea 2:15). He changes this picture from  the scared slaves…“ I’m scared of going to hell so I serve God out of fear hoping to make it..” to… “ I serve God because I love him, and want to show my gratefulness” . He changed the picture from a miserable “ I got to do this”, to and enthusiastic “ I get to do this!”

God’s Love

The fact of the matter is that God’s image is in your DNA. If you buy a shirt from a name brand store, it’s probably gonna be a lot more expensive than what you get from Walmart, why? Because of the name.  Every individual is valuable in God sight because each one of us was made in God’s image, and God cares about his image just like a parent cares for their child. Understand the stories Jesus told about the prodigal son, whose father ran out to meet him ( Luke 15:20 ) , even after he had squandered his wealth on wild living ( Luke 15:30). Understand the story of the one lost sheep whom God left ninety-nine in order to find that one who strayed (Luke 15:4). God gets excited about you coming back to him, He loves you. Don’t ever think you’re too far gone! In each story Jesus is revealed the tender-heart of God. Jesus tells us to call him “Abba” translated in english as “ daddy”… God is our kind, gentle loving father in heaven.

A New Perspective

Perspective can change everything, that’s one thing we learned the Become Tour, and that’s why I must introduce you to Jesus Christ because he will change your perspective on life. if you ever saw those 3-D sculptures where you stand on one side of the room and it looks like nothing I mean is just a whole bunch of mess, but then… you take a step into the artist’s perspective… then you see this masterpiece of a person’s face!

This is the same thing in knowing who Christ is. From a worldly perspective you will only see the world as a chaotic , unjust, and with no meaning. But with Christ…you will be moved by his amazing love to a place of great meaning, purpose, love and compassion. When you see the world from his point of view, then you’ll understand this chaos is temporary, and express the love that he expressed to you. Jesus can turn your mess, into a message of hope!

A Fresh Start

Romans 10:9 says that “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Salvation is God’s free gift to us and we become His children.
It is an irrevocable acceptance into the family of God and it is an empowerment to live life wholly and fully with the purpose of reflecting God to the rest of His creation.

You’re Invited

So with that said, I invite you to join the family of Be-leavers. I invite you to leave your life of selfishness,  grudges, bitterness, and things that weigh you down. Take on Jesus his burden is light ( Matthew 11:30). I invite you to no longer serve God out of fear, but to serve him out of love and knowing that you have a place in heaven… because he loves you. I invite you to love other people like God loves you…no longer holding grudges but , loving , sharing , and giving, like God has done for you through Jesus Christ.

Prayer

Dear heavenly father, I know that I have done wrong by living selfishly , and hating folks. I didn’t care about your feelings and I am sorry that I’ve lived a selfish lifestyle that hurt your heart. From now on I turn from my harmful ways, and will follow Jesus. I realize there’s nothing I can do to save myself, that’s why I’m calling on you to change my heart, spirit, mind, and soul. I accept your son Jesus Christ as payment for my sins, and will forgive others as you have forgiven me. Thank you for your sacrifice, I will live to do your will , and love others as you have loved me.

Welcome to the family of Be-leavers!

Please let me know if you’ve just made a commitment to Jesus and prayed this prayer by writing me below. I’d like to know your story!
