We Are Living Stones

We are who we are for a good purpose, and what we are is sacred:

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.(Ephesians 2:10 )

…God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. ( Psalms 139:14 )

Don’t degrade your soul to fit a man-made mold :

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2)

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14)

Use your voice:

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD. ( Psalm 150:6)

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.(2 Timothy 1:7)

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. (Proverbs 31:8)

Use your gifts :

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great. ( proverbs 18:16)

Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. – 1 Timothy 4: 14-16

We are living stones, not bricks :

As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house  to be a holy priesthood…you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. ( 1 Peter 2: 1 )
