There is a lie going around telling people to not TRY. It tells people to have a poor work ethic, and to believe things will never get better. I’ve struggled with this ideology, and it has paralyzed me from even trying. I see this problem especially in the black community. But when I think about all these stats…I then see Eric Thomas who was a high-school dropout, and now a PhD, because he changed his work ethic. He didn’t grow up with a father, but he’s not going to sit and cry about it. What he does do is focus on his opportunity, rather than the opposition.
