Morning Motivation #3 : There is Hope

Philippians 4:4 says:

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

No more nihilism and negativity because the Cross of Christ gives us hope!

I was talking to these young girls yesterday while they happened to be smoking (nonetheless they were E-cigs) and one of them asked me if I smoked. I told her no, she asked: ” why?… because of the Lord?” We had been talking beforehand about why I didn’t do certain things or believed a certain way – but that’s another story. I should have told her “yes” because Jesus is my high…But, I said because of health, which is also true. They didn’t buy my reasoning though. The other girl said her family has a high rate of cancer anyway so she mind-as-well speed up the process.I thought myself, so you’re claiming your early death? 🙁 HOW SAD, HOW NIHILISTIC!!!!

This is the kind of ideology we struggle with every day… it’s in the music, media, and all around us. It’s the idea of hopelessness. That everything is going to hell! That there is no hope! so why try? But thank God for Jesus, because he shifted my perspective on life. He took a negative thing, the cross, which was a Roman torture device, and turned it into the symbol of positivity. Jesus overcame death because of God, and because he rose from the grave, it shows us that we with God can rise above our circumstances.So, Just because your family has died of cancer doesn’t mean you have to do the same. There were many diseases that people died from in the past, that are now curable.People with cancer, suffer really really bad, why go through that? We have a choice, We can make NEW mistakes, we can rise above our yesterday.

 

Conclusion:
There is HOPE, we CAN rise above our yesterday. Don’t live in the shadow of your failures. Make new choices, and understand that God made the way through JESUS so we can overcome the gravity of death. THERE IS HOPE.
