Be Leave Shirt & CD
Bitterness will destroy us if we hold on to it. God warns us in Leviticus 19:18 about nursing grudges and seeking revenge,“ Do no seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people , but love your neighbor as yourself ”. The Bible tells us to be “frank” with each other (Leviticus 19:17) and Jesus says if we have a problem with someone go talk them one on one (Matthew 18:15). If they don’t listen then he says take someone else with you, and if they still don’t listen then bring the matter to the church. If they don’t listen to the church then treat them as an unbeliever. In either case we are to be real with each other, and never slander one another ( Leviticus 19:16 ).Christ calls us to be light in a dark world ( Matthew 5:14). He calls us to forgive, and be kind even to our enemies ( Luke 6:27). Jesus says that God will not forgive our sins, if we do not forgive others from our heart. ( Matthew 18: 35 ).
Our faith in Jesus Christ causes us to love our enemies, and pray for those who persecute us ( Matthew 5:44). Many times our worst enemies are people in our own family, just as Jesus warned: “ Your enemies will be right in your own household!” ( Matthew 10:36). Yet we are to be kind them regardless of what they do as a sign of faith in God.
Is there anyone that you’re nursing a grudge against? A person? A people group? a politician ? or even the president? You may not be able to talk to all of these people one on one, but you can keep your heart from becoming bitter with hate for them. Don’t let an unforgiving attitude hold you back from enjoying a loving relationship with God. To Be Leave means to be who you are in Christ, and leave all that bitterness behind.
Father you are good, thank you for Jesus, who released me from my sin debt. Forgive me for living a selfish life. Forgive me for holding onto grudges, and bitterness, against those who’ve hurt me. Give me a clean heart, and fill me with your Holy Spirit. From now on may I walk in your love , your peace, and grace . May I show others the same grace, and love I want for myself. Amen.
